Who we are

Catherine French Tutor is run by Catherine, a French teacher based in the United Kingdom offering online French tuition. Catherine is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What data we collect

• Your name, email address and message when you use the contact form.
• Any details you send when booking lessons, such as your level, goals, availability and, for younger students, parent or guardian contact details.

How we use it

We use your data to reply to your enquiries and to arrange and deliver your lessons.

Legal basis under UK GDPR

We process your data to take steps at your request before entering into a contract and to perform that contract (lessons), and on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.

Sharing

Your data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the tuition: our email provider, to send and receive messages, and Zoom, to hold online lessons. Your data is never sold.

Data retention

Enquiries that do not lead to lessons are deleted within 12 months. Student records are kept for as long as lessons continue and for a reasonable period afterwards for accounting purposes.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data and to object to its processing. To exercise these rights, email Catherinefrenchtutor@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

Some students are aged 12 to 17. For these students, lessons are arranged with a parent or guardian, who is involved in booking and may contact us about the student’s data at any time.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse or unauthorised access.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated.
